Katherine Pearl Hughes, 78-year-old Delaware resident passed away on Thursday, May 27, 2021, in Bartlesville, OK. She was born October 6, 1942, in Coodys Bluff, OK to Horace Guy and Eliza Pearl (Martin) Little. Katherine was raised by different family members after the death of her twin and mother. When she was six years old she went to boarding school at Seneca Indian School from the 1st through 9th grades and graduated high school from Sequoyah Indian School. After graduation she went to Chilocco Indian School where she graduated from the Cosmetology program. She then went on to serve in the United States Navy where she met and married Jesse Jones on the military base in Corpus Christi, Texas. Katherine enjoyed her flowers, taking road trips, snacking, going to the Senior Citizens Center to play bingo, where she met some very special friends. On September 8, 1992, she married Orville Lee “Sonny” Hughes Jr. in Bentonville, Arkansas. Katherine loved her family very much. She had a special place in her heart for each one in her family and will be missed by all who knew her.

Katherine was preceded by her mother and father, Horace and Eliza Little; her husband, Orville “Sonny” Hughes; and five siblings, Doris Aliff, Bobby Little, Wesley Little, Norman Little and her twin, baby boy Little.

She is survived by her five children, Katherine (Jones) Smith and husband Robert of Delaware, OK, Tonja (Jones) Taylor of New Harbor, Maine, Melissa Jones of Delaware, OK, George Hughes and wife Jerri of Cherryvale, KS, Dennis Hughes of Nowata, OK; three siblings, Delores Little, Maxine Brame, Ruby Kirk, fourteen grandchildren, Brooke Boddicker and husband Zach, Jordan Taylor, Whitney Akers and husband Davy Maple, Jesseca Miller and husband Taylor, Austin Akers, Morgan Bell, Madison Kester and husband Kyle, Montana Riley, Crystal Hughes, Candy Sisco and husband Wyatt, Jon Smith and wife Elizabeth, Danny Smith; sixteen great grandchildren; fur babies Rocco, Lucy; many nieces and nephews that she loved with all her heart and a host of friends.

Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a. m., Saturday, October 2, 2021, at the First United Methodist Church, 109 W. Shawnee Ave, Nowata, OK, with Pastor Jeffrey Rickman officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Benjamin Funeral Service Nowata, Oklahoma.
