Joseph "Fred" Veley

Joseph Fredric “Fred” Veley, lifetime resident of Nowata, Oklahoma, passed from this life into eternal rest with our Lord and Savior on the night of December 18, 2022. Fred took his first breath of life on the morning of August 23, 1957, the son of Harold and Kathryn Veley.

Fred married the love of his life, Diana on December 16, 1978, in Delaware, OK. The couple enjoyed over 40 years of marriage until Diana’s passing in 2020. A true, greater love was demonstrated all through the years, even until his last breath.

Fred spent thirty-three years as a fireman for the City of Bartlesville putting aside self and risking his life for the Bartlesville community. Fred loved his community and, loved helping others. He never met a stranger. After retirement form the fire department, Fred spent a few years working for the Cherokee Casino.

A true servant’s heart has never defined anyone as perfectly as it did Fred.

Fred was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to be in the great outdoors; he loved to fish and hunt, and he loved all that nature had to provide the world. Fred was an avid golfer and could often be found at his favorite country club waiting on tee time. Fred also loved to sit and watch a good western.

Above all, Fred was a family man who loved any moment he could spend with his family.

Fred was greeted at the gates of Heaven by his Loving wife Diana, his parents Harold and Kathryn, and one brother Jim.

Those left to cherish the memory of a great man include his children; Cory, Clint and Carissa, his grandchildren; Mariah, Jillian, Chandler, Allie, Ciara, Caydy, Cami, Clara, Caleb, Kennedee, Kade, Kristopher and Darren his siblings; Renee, Tommy, and Cindy, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

A public viewing will be held Thursday, December 22, 2022, in the chapel of the Benjamin Funeral Home in Nowata, OK. The family will greet friends from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, December 23, 2022, at 10:00 am at the First Church of God in Nowata, OK, with Pastor Wendell Abbott officiating. Graveside service will follow at Ball Cemetery in Childers, OK.
