Edra Illean Landers, 82-year-old Nowata resident, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Sunday, May 23, 2021 in Owasso, OK. Edra was born October 5, 1938 in Nowata, the daughter of Ike and Ruby (Bennett) O’Dell. She attended Nowata schools and graduated with the Class of 1956. She then attended Anderson College in Indiana where she earned her bachelor’s degree. She worked for many years in the Baylor University Health Care System in Dallas, TX. In November of 1966, Edra married Mike White of Dallas, TX, who passed away in February of 1994. Edra married Phil Landers on February 14, 2011 in Tulsa, OK and then moved back to Nowata. Edra was an active member of First Baptist Church of Nowata. She enjoyed visiting with friends, playing the piano, attending TU basketball games with friends, as well as working in her yard and flower gardens. She was a Dallas Cowboys and University of Tulsa fan. Edra was loved by everyone. She had a special place in her heart for her family and friends. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Edra is preceded in death by her parents Ike and Ruby O’Dell and great-great niece, Ellie Burton.
She is survived by her husband, Phil Landers of the home; one son, Jason White; one brother, Jerry O’Dell and wife June, of Sapulpa, OK; one niece, Kevin Ann Mathews and husband Wyman, of Jenks, OK; one nephew, Jeff O’Dell and wife Paula, of Arlington, TX; one great-nephew, Jordan Burton and wife Anna, of Tulsa, OK; one great-niece, Baylie Burton, of Jenks, OK; and two great-great nieces, Keira Burton and Addie Burton; as well as many other relatives, and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 28, 2021, at the First Baptist Church in Nowata, OK, with Pastor Wayne Clayton officiating. Services are under the direction of Benjamin Funeral Service. Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemories.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
