David Brent Clay

July 14, 1970 ~ March 31, 2022 (age 51)

David Brent Clay was born July 14,1970 and left his family and friends to join his grandma, grandpa, two uncles and a cousin on March 31, 2022.  Brent leaves behind his wife of 22 years Diana Clay, and his daughter Riley Clay, both of the home.  He is also survived by his mother Velma Clay of Claremore, brother Joseph Clay and nephew Jesse Clay also of Claremore, mother-in-law and father-in-law Elmer and Patsy Duty of Sand Springs, brother-in-law and friend Rick Duty and his wife Patti, nephews Trevor and Toby of Sand Springs and nephew Justin Duty and wife Sarah of Claremore.  Brent also leaves many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and co-workers, and close friends Randy Benton, Nathan Dickson, Paul Hixson, Jim Deck, Brek Henry, Spencer Grace, Jeff Brown, Paul Welch, and Jesse Monroe.

Brent had many accomplishments in life. He was an ordained minister, received his Bachelor of Science degree at the age of 35 and joined the State of Oklahoma Wildlife Department as a game warden upon completion of his degree.  Brent was an avid hunter and fisherman and especially loved sharing that passion with his daughter.  Brent was an extremely talented singer song writer; it was not uncommon for him to write a song daily.  Brent started riding bulls at the age of twelve, rode throughout his life and became world champion at the age of 46.  Brent always said his greatest thing in life was his daughter Riley.  He always called her “His Little Lady Bug”.  His love for her had no end and he supported her in everything she wanted to do and was so very proud of her.

If you were Brent’s friend, you knew it without question.  Anything he had he would gladly give to you and did not ask for anything in return.  He loved playing music with his brother Joseph and when his nephew Jesse developed his musical interest Brent was so excited to include him.  His mother always said there was never a time when there was not music in their home.  Brent was influenced by many artists but the main one was Elvis Presley; it is safe to say Brent could sing you every song Elvis recorded.

Brent is singing today in heaven for his grandmother and grandfather Marvin and Imogene McDaniel, uncles Leroy and Jerry McDaniel, cousin Adam McDaniel, and his Aunt Lou. He will always be a bright and shining light to those who loved him and will be remembered until the end of time. Our hearts are shattered and we long to see him one more time.  He went to heaven with a song in his heart, a dance in his step and left us with love in our heart for him.  Keep singing Brent, we will be listening!
