Ruby Katherine Petty, 99, of Wann, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, September 4, 2021, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She was born April 17, 1922, in Wann, Oklahoma to John Albert and Bessie Ola (Leatherman) Fitzsimmons. She attended Wann Schools. Ruby drove a school bus for several years and cooked at several restaurants and schools. She was active in several churches, most recent being Ridin’ for the Brand Church, was a licensed minister, and attended Discovery Church in Owasso, Oklahoma for over 4 years. Ruby also loved singing gospel music and reading her bible. Above all she loved her family. Her nine children and 5 generations of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and other relatives all had a special place in her heart.
Ruby is preceded in death by her parents, John, and Bessie Fitzsimmons; a daughter Wassalee Johnson; siblings, Louis (Bud) Fitzsimmons, Ida (Babe) Mehl, Madeline Tidwell; grandsons, Matthew Levi Iron, and Toby Le Thompson.
Survivors include 8 children, Wanda Oder, John Petty and wife Tonya, Kathy Iron, Ernest Petty, Judy Leighton and husband David, Ron Petty and wife Sharon, Debbie Maggard, Don Petty, and wife Nancy; grandchildren, Scott Parks, Jason Petty, Joe Iron, Angelia Iron, Donna Wagnor, Trampas Thompson, Ron Petty Jr., Rachel Demaree, Brandon Hix, Dan Grossman Jr., Linda Ragsdale, Thomas Petty, Justin Petty, Jeannie Brumfield, Karen Miller, Kathy Ridenhour; many other relatives and a host of friends.
A visitation for Ruby Petty will be held at Benjamin Funeral Service, 114 W. Cherokee, Nowata, Ok. 74301 from 4 to 6 p.m., Wednesday, September 8, 2021, and a funeral will be held at Ridin’ for the Brand Church in Wann, Oklahoma, Thursday, September 9, 2021, at 10 a.m., with Pastor Jimmy Harrington officiating.
