Ruby "Nell" Davis

We mourn the loss of Ruby “Nell” Davis, 82, a unique and hardworking woman, born on October 15, 1941, in Tulsa, OK, to Jerry Fay Tucker and Sarah Tennie (Muir) Tucker. Nell left her earthly body on June 12, 2024, in Stillwater, OK.

Nell grew up and graduated high school in Tulsa, OK. She worked as the Nowata Tag Agent for 32 years, before retiring. It was truly Nell’s passion to serve the community through her work at the Nowata Tag Office.

On August 3, 1961, Nell married the love of her life, Loy Raymond Davis in Joplin, MO. The couple initially made their home in Tulsa, and in 1971, Loy decided to purchase a law office in Nowata, so the family relocated to Nowata, OK. Nell was active in the Nowata community and was a member of several clubs throughout the years including the GFWC La Kee Kon, Better Homes and Gardens, and Women’s Golf at the Nowata Country Club.

In her free time, Nell enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking, decorating for the holidays, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Nell will be missed by all who knew her.

Nell is preceded in death by her husband: Loy Raymond Davis, her parents: Jerry and Sarah Tucker; her brother Jerry Tucker Jr.; here sister: Tennie Sarah Tucker, her nieces Cathy Tucker and Patricia Tucker, her grandparents: Jack and Lily Tucker, and Mr. and Mrs. Edd Muir; her in-laws: Foy L. and Georgia L Davis; Little Grandma Mary Campbell, and Little Grandma Effie Davis, and numerous other family members.

Those left to cherish the memory of Nell include her children: LaNell Davis, John Davis and wife, Allyson Hudson, Lorri Carlile and husband, Rick, and Jim W. Davis and wife, Jamie; her grandchildren: Tyler Carlile and wife, Shelley, Chase Carlile and wife, Matti, Loy Hayden Davis, and fiancé, Abby Burcham, Caden Carlile, Reese J. Davis, and Ryan J. Davis; her great-granddaughter: Layla Mae Davis and several nieces and nephews, along with many other family members and friends.

A visitation for friends and family will be held on Friday, June 14, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Benjamin Funeral Service Chapel. A funeral service for Nell will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 10:00 AM at the Hillside Christian Church with Terry Snelling officiating. Interment will follow at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Nowata, OK. Arrangements have been trusted to the caring staff of Benjamin Funeral Service.
