Robert Loyd Heape Sr.

Jacksonville, IL

Robert Loyd Heape Sr, 92 years, 1 month and 10 days old passed away on January 23, 2024, at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, Illinois. Robert was born on December 13, 1931, in Bakersfield, California.  

When his family returned to Oklahoma they lived in the Winganon and Chelsea area.  He graduated from Chelsea High School in May of 1951 and was inducted into the Army on October 21, 1952 serving honorably in the Korean War.  He graduated from Okmulgee Tech with a degree in Diesel Mechanics April 24, 1957. He had a long career as an Auto Mechanic working in several businesses in Bartlesville Oklahoma.  Robert and Dora Mae Parret were married on December 22, 1955.

Preceding Robert in death was his wife: Dora Mae Parret Heape; Parents: Robert Cleveland Heape, Nancy Adeline Starns Heape; Sisters: Pernecia Lou Heape Stone, Dolly Virginia Heape Risenhoover, and Francis Mae Heape Taylor.  

He is survived by his daughters: Robin Lynn Heape Pryor, Theresa Jo Heape, Cindy Bell Miller; Son: Robert Loyd Heape Jr; brother: Joseph Leon Heape; sister in-law Mabel Parret Collier; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. 

He loved horses and shooting guns.  He loved telling stories and being with his family. He and his wife, Dora opened their home and hearts to many making friends into family.  He will be missed by all who loved and cared for him.  

A Graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 3rd, 2024, at Martin Cemetery in Nowata County, Oklahoma, at 10:00 am.  Friends and Family are invited to lunch and fellowship after the service at the No-We-Ta Cherokee Community Center (1020 Lenape Dr, Nowata, Oklahoma).  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the caring staff of Benjamin Funeral Service.
