Pauline Montgomery-Wilson

April 13, 1918 — January 2, 2019

BENJAMIN FUNERAL SERVICE NOWATA, OKLAHOMA 918-273-2700..............Although Pauline Hicks Montgomery Wilson's life on this earth ended at 6:30 AM on Wednesday, the second day of the year 2019, her exceptional spirit and influence will live on for those she left behind.

Pauline was born April 13, 1918 in Bly, Oklahoma. The decision to live with her daughter in Camden, Arkansas during her twilight years did not keep her from longing for her Oklahoma home she loved so dearly, and as late as the last year of her life she returned home once again for her one hundredth birthday party.

Pauline's life was fruitful and pioneering. During a time when a woman's station was to keep the home, she reached outside those bounds and circumvented tradition, even as she dutifully raised her family. She inspired those that followed her to extend themselves and to realize our only boundaries are those we put on ourselves.

In wartime, while her husband was fighting in Germany, Pauline worked in the defense industry and helped fabricate aircraft used in WWII. Her exceptional skill at pattern making kept her in high demand within the manufacturing process. In later years she served children in the public-school system, supervising the meals and those that served the children.

Her stories of times gone by help to inspire her child and grandchildren. Anyone that knew Pauline and had the pleasure of being in her presence was instantly affected by her wit and charm. Her sense of humor, her sharp memory, even until the end, kept all of our heart's smiling.

She left us wanting more - precious memories will continue to inspire us for eternity.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, James R Hicks and Lilly Adamson Hicks. Husbands, Harold Montgomery and Albert Wilson. Sisters, Alma Hicks, Edith Swalley, Sarah Dodd, and Opal Heape; brothers Lyle, Eugene, and Marvin Hicks.

Pauline is survived by brothers Max Hicks (Betty) and Alva Hicks (Virginia). Daughter, Janet Cummings, step daughter Marilyn Koerner (Bill), step son Eldon Wilson (Vickie). Granddaughter, Cynthia Cummings (Shawna Riley), grandson, Craig Cummings (Shelly), great granddaughters, Kaitlyn Cummings, Kristin Cummings, Hannah Garcia, and Lilly Cummings. Numerous nieces and nephews.
