Mary Wilson

July 3, 1944 — December 4, 2022

Nowata

Mary Ginger Wilson, 78, passed from this life into the arms of our Lord and Savior on the morning of December 4, 2022, in Nowata, Oklahoma.

Mary took her first breath of life on July 3, 1944, the daughter of Ed and Iza (Cooper) Bauman in Coodys Bluff, Oklahoma. She was raised in the Nowata area and was a long-time resident of the area Mary was proud to call Nowata home. Mary started working at the luggage factory in Claremore and Chelsea with her sisters, Joy and Chris. She then worked for the carpet store in Nowata for 3 to 4 years, before changing professions to working as a dental assistant. Mary worked locally as a dental assistant for Dr. Harrison, Allen McQuigly, and Dr. Rickards for several years.

On February 27, 1962, Mary married the love of her life Nelson Bascomb Wilson in Nowata. During the many blessed years they shared, the couple traveled all over the world. Their most visited and loved place that they visited was Hawaii. They traveled to Hawaii numerous times with friends Kenny and Linda and Bill and Delores Maggard. They shared many years together until Nelson’s passing on October 4, 2019. Mary held their love and vows near and dear until she met Nelson at the gates of heaven to begin their eternity in Christ.

Mary was an avid collector. Throughout the years, she collected Beanie Babies, Cupie dolls, angels, anything Winnie the Pooh, and jewelry. She enjoyed crocheting and doing all kinds of crafts. When her daughters, Ginger and Mary, were young, they were twirlers. Mary would spend hours, making their costumes which had lots of beading and sequins. When the girls had to be in a parade or event, Mary would be right by their sides, marching along with them. Mary loved spending time with her grandchildren and going to baseball and softball games, gymnastics meets, golf tournaments, and basketball games. She was a member of the Bartlesville Indian Women’s Club and the Eastern Star. Mary was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Nowata. She loved helping with Vacation Bible School and summer trips to Falls Creek. She truly enjoyed working with the children. Nelson and Mary served their Lord through mission trips to Nicaragua for 10 years, where Nelson prepared food, and Mary did dental work and taught others about God. Mary dedicated her life and good works to the Lord and was a shining light of his love to all who knew her she will be greatly missed by all.

Those left to cherish her beautiful memory are her children; Ginger Johnson and husband, Casey of North Carolina, Mary Finton and husband, Mark of Bartlesville, OK, her grandchildren; Casey Johnson Jr. and wife, Amanda of North Carolina and Christine Johnson of North Carolina, her several grand-fur babies, her great-grandchildren; Kearstin, Jax, Lane, Saylor, Mason, and Chloe all of North Carolina, her sister; Joy Bauman of Nowata, OK, along with other family members and friends.

Those greeting her at the gates of Heaven are her parents; Ed and Iza Bauman, her husband; Nelson Wilson, her brothers; Jack Friddle, Devon Friddle, John Friddle, and Ed Bauman, and her sister; Chris Hamil.
