Mary Louise Pruett, age 98, passed into her Eternal home May 31, 2025, at Bartlesville, OK. She was born March 2, 1927, to Charles Asa Hurd and Flossie Maybelle (Lightle) Hurd at Talala, Okla on a very cold and blustery snowy night. Her family moved to the Robinson Ranch in the Ruby, Okla area in 1932 where her father was Ranch Foreman for several years. Louise had lots of good memories from the Ranch riding horses and going to school with the Sutliff and McMains children.
Her family moved back to Nowata and then to the Childers area where she graduated May 11, 1944, from Childers School. That was where she met Egee Pruett. They were married December 3, 1946, while he was home on furlough leave from the Army. She worked at the First National Bank of Nowata after graduation. When Egee got out of the army they bought a farm in the Childers area where their first daughter, Linda, was born in 1948. Their house burnt and they lost everything, but they were so thankful that they got their baby girl out. Egee and Louise then moved to Big Creek to help on the Walton Farm and in 1950 their second daughter, Nancy, was born. Their third daughter, Margie, was born in 1952. In 1954, Egee’s father passed away and they moved closer to his mother and sister, Arlene, to help on the farm. In 1959 their fourth daughter, Elisa, was born.
In 1951, at a revival at Twin Bridges Church Louise gave her life to God. She was a Sunday School teacher for many years and a member of the Childers Church for many years. She was active in church activities, nursing home ministry, praying every morning and reading her Bible every day. She was a mighty prayer warrior in constant prayer for her family and many others. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and a Godly Christian woman.
Louise was a good cook. The family liked her fried chicken, wacky cake and chocolate pie. The family always gathered on Sundays after church for a Big Family Dinner with the grandkids running in and out, the ladies all talking at once, and the sons-in-law sleeping or hunting. She loved all her family dearly and thoroughly loved when they all came to visit.
She is survived by four daughters and their husbands, Linda Lord, Nancy and Rocky Seals, Margie McClellan, and Elisa and Roger Collier; seven grandchildren, Justin and Misty Lord, Shelley Seals, Sherri Seals, Rocky Lee and Amber Seals, Michael McClellan, Clint Collier, and Ashley and Doniva Downing; fifteen great-grandchildren, Tyler Moore, Tucker and Rylee Collier, Kaleena, Alayah, and Landri Downing, Alexandra Hubbard and Anthony Ricks, Alicia Hubbard, Asiah Caliman, Aiden McClellan, Kinsley, Kaitlyn and Paisley Seals, Rylee and Maxie Waters; and three great-great-grandchildren Harlen and Asher Ricks, and Anistyn Hubbard; a sister, Imogene Standeford; and several nieces and nephews as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Egee Pruett; her parents, Asa and Flossie Hurd; her brother, Edwin Hurd; a son-in-law John Lord; a nephew Jerry Lee Hurd; her sisters-in-law, Wanda Pearsall, Arlene Branen, and Jessie Hurd; and brothers-in-law, Brownie Pearsall, Jerry Branen, and Ronnie Standeford.
