Marvin Eugene Spears

Marvin Eugene Spears, affectionately known as Marv, was born on October 4, 1940, in Childers, Oklahoma. He passed away on November 28, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, surrounded by his loving family. Marv lived a life rich in purpose and devoted to both his career and loved ones.

Marv's academic journey began at Nowata High School, where he excelled not only in academics but also in various extracurricular activities. A sports enthusiast, he participated in basketball and baseball, and he was an accomplished member of the band, earning recognition as part of the All-State Band and serving as a Boy's State Representative. His dedication to music earned him a two-year band scholarship to Coffeyville Junior College. He then attended the University of Oklahoma, where he continued to shine both academically and socially as a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity and Iota Epsilon honorary fraternity and achieving a place on the Dean's Honor Roll. Marv graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration. In addition, he graduated from the University of Oklahoma School of Law where he earned his Juris Doctorate, paving the way for a noteworthy legal career.

Throughout his professional life, Marv worked as an attorney in various capacities, including roles at the Oklahoma Office of the Attorney General, as a District Attorney, and ultimately in private practice. His commitment to justice and his community underscored his dedication to his work as a legal professional.

Marv was known for his warm personality that endeared him to many. He was a true people person who enjoyed life in all its forms. Never one to meet a stranger, he genuinely cared about others, always taking an interest in their well-being. His infectious smile had the power to brighten any day, and he was known for placing others' needs above his own. Marv's witty sense of humor and calming presence provided comfort to those around him, reassuring everyone that everything would be alright.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Marv had a deep passion for the great outdoors. He cherished moments spent deer and quail hunting, as well as fishing, activities that brought him joy and connection to nature.

Marv's proudest accomplishments were his family: his beloved wife, Pat; his children, Brad and Stacy; and his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Their lives were enriched by his unwavering support and love.
