Marjorie Jean Monroe, 91, of Nowata, passed away at her home in Nowata on July 28, 2023. She was born June 26, 1932, in Nowata, to Roy C. Wood and Eula (Riley) Wood. Marjorie was educated in the Nowata School System and in 1946 and married James Bennett Monroe, in Coffeyville, Kansas. They moved to California and Idaho before returning to Nowata in 1976. Marjorie enjoyed sewing, quilting, baking and cooking for her family. She loved writing letters to family when they were not close to each other. She was very close to her family and had a special place in her heart for all of them. Marjorie will be missed by all who know her.

Preceding Mrs. Monroe in death are her parents, Roy and Eula (Riley) Wood, siblings, Lee Wood, Jack Wood Jr, Betty Teachman, and Janet Carol Tatum.

Survivors include a son, James and wife Susan Monroe, of Nowata; a grandson, Travis Monroe; a great grandson Broden Monroe; nieces and nephews, Deanne Collins, Bradley Tatum, Doug Tatum, Jack Woods Jr., Holly Rehagan; many other relatives and a host of friends.

A graveside funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 4, 2023, at Nowata Memorial Park Cemetery with pastor Wendell Abbott officiating.
