Kelly Lavon Gibson Sr, 66, passed away at the St. David’s Hospital in Austin, Texas, on Wednesday morning on June 29, 2022.
Kelly Lavon Gibson, Sr was born to Seywood and Edith Mae (Thompson) Gibson in Nowata, Oklahoma on July 17, 1955. His twin sister, Shelly Yvonne Gibson lived for 11 days before she was called home to the lord. At an early age, Kelly accepted the Lord at Lightening Creek Baptist Church in Lightening Creek area. He attended Alluwe schools for several years, before moving to Nowata to complete his senior year. By heart, he always considered himself an "Alluwe Bulldog.” He was an outstanding basketball player, and his mom would always call him "The Amazing Rubber Band Kelly" because he could always twist and turn his body like a rubber band. After graduation, he joined the United States Army, where he served 6 years as a tow missile specialist.
Kelly married Susan Kay Watt in Austin, Texas on April 12, 1979. He went to work for Lockheed Martin Missiles & Space and received several awards including Employee of the Month twice. He also worked as a delivery driver for approximately 10 years.
Kelly was a tremendously hard worker and he did whatever needed to be done to provide for his family. He made sure that the people he loved were taken care of. Kelly loved to dance. There was never a dull moment because he always tried to make you laugh. He loved sports, gardening, and building things especially picnic tables for friends and family. Most of all he loved playing and being with his grandchildren. Kelly loved his family very much and will be missed by them. We will miss your jokes and laughter. You were always the life of the party and a great man who loved his family.
