Luginbuel Funeral Home, Vinita, OK (918) 256-5555.....John Edward Smith, 84, passed away February 22, 2019 at Hillcrest hospital in Tulsa. John was born November 11, 1934 the son of John Paul Smith and Thelma Emma (Caywood) Smith. John graduated from Big Cabin High School in 1952. He married his high school sweetheart Shirley Mae Boling and together they raised one son. John was a charter member of Utopia Baptist Church. He and Shirley were the first young couple to be married in the church. John was a truck driver for Safeway and Yellow Freight. He loved animals, enjoyed fishing and going to flea markets with Shirley.
John was preceded in death by his father Rev. John Paul Smith; mother Thelma (Caywood) Smith; wife Shirley Mae Boling; and sister Mary Alice Clarkson.
He is survived by one son Jack Smith and wife Mary Mosby of Big Cabin, OK; two sisters Pauline Hamm of Pensacola OK, Shirley Richardson of Heavener, OK; and one brother-in-law Walter Smith of Lynnwood, Washington.
A celebration of life service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday March 02, 2019 at the Utopia Baptist Church with Pastor Freddie Griffin and Reverend Roger Miller officiating. On-line condolences may be submitted to www.honoringmemories.com or our Luginbuel Facebook page.
