Joe Nicely

Joe Leroy Nicely, age 89, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2020.

He was born on October 10, 1930 in Cromwell, Oklahoma to Tom and Mary (Rogers) Nicely.

Joe graduated from Pryor High School and began working for REC at age 19 as a lineman.

He married Betty Littlefield in 1951, and later had one daughter, Brenda. In 1964, they moved to Vinita and he took the superintendent job for REC. He later went to work for PSO, where he worked until the late 1980’s and retired as the district manager in Grove, Oklahoma. Joe spent his retirement years buying a farm, raising some cattle, woodworking and spending time with his family. He enjoyed spoiling his granddaughter until the great granddaughters came along and they quickly became “Papaws girls.”

Joe was preceded in death by his parents: his brothers George Nicely and Charles Nicely: nephew, Chris Nicely and wife, Betty (Littlefield) Nicely.

He is survived by his daughter, Brenda (Nicely) Hall; granddaughter, Heather (Hall) Federline and husband, Robert; great granddaughters, Makayla and Madelyn Federline; sister, Nell McDowell; sister-in-law, Patty Nicely; many nieces and nephews; and other members of the Nicely and Littlefield families.

A private family memorial will be held at a later date.

Funeral services are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, OK.
