Jim Allen Hamil, 83, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2022. Jim was born on June 25, 1939, in Watova, OK to George Edward and Lucille Pauline (Vanbeber) Hamil. He grew up and has remained a long-time resident of the Nowata area.
As a young man, Jim married Bonnie Sue Harrington and from that union, they had three children: Sandra, Debbie, and Jimmy. On September 15, 1989, Jim married Louise Christine “Chris” Bauman in Miami, OK. Through this marriage, he gained three more children: Rhonda, Pudge, and Randy.
In his younger years, Jim and his cousin, Francis enjoyed breaking horses and like to attend rodeos. Jim worked at Jencast Foundry for more than 46 years as a Foreman, before he retired. Though, he could not stay retired. He went back to work doing maintenance at the Hays House. Jim had the perfect personality to work at the Hays House, as he was very accepting and enjoyed the residents there very much.
Jim was a very kind and laid-back man. To his family, he was everything. He enjoyed Nascar, old cars, his grandchildren, and his dog, Milo. He will be missed by his family and everyone who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; George and Lucille Hamil, his wife; Chris Hamil, his sisters; Mary Worthington, Dorothy Hamil, and Doris Garner, and his cousin, but more of a brother; Francis Chair.
Jim is survived by his children; Sandra Upchurch-Fleming of Ochelata, OK, Debbie Shults of Nowata, OK, Rhonda Abel of Tulsa, OK, Jimmy Hamil Jr. of Nowata, OK, Pudge Harvey of Nowata, OK, and Randy Shoemaker of Oologah, OK, his grandchildren; Bryce Walker of Tulsa, OK, Jerimiah Upchurch of Ochelata, OK, Daniel Fleming of Ochelata, OK, Justin Hamil of Oologah, OK, Trent Hamil of Nowata, OK Haylee Abel of Sapulpa, OK, Corey Abel of Stillwater, OK, Matthew Schults of Owasso, OK, and Kimberly Schultz of Nowata, OK, his great-grandchildren; Zoie Abel, Zeryn Abel, Alani Martin-Liddell, Charlotte Hamil, Noah Hamil, Mariah Schults, and Mason Shults, along with several other family members and friends.
