Buddy “Hubert” Joe King, 67, of Lenapah, Oklahoma, passed away at his home on October 28,2025. He was born on October 23, 1958, in Coffeyville, Kansas, to Joe and Dorothy King.
Buddy married Melanie Bamberry, and to this union, one son, Jake King, was born. The couple later divorced.
Buddy enjoyed spending time with his son and grandson, Carter, who brought him great joy. He loved visiting with friends and never met a stranger. Known for his remarkable memory, Buddy could recall details and facts about nearly anything. He was a talented and skilled master fabricator and welder who took great pride in his work. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and reading, and in his younger years, he loved to dance.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joe King; his paternal grandparents, Crum and Dollie King; his maternal grandparents, Buck and JoAnna Scott; his brother-in-law, Butch Gushee; and his nephew, Cody White.
Buddy is survived by his mother, Dorothy King; his son, Jake and Jen King; his grandson, Carter; his sisters, Patty Gushee and Pam Rumple; and numerous other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
A celebration of Buddy’s life will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Lenapah Senior Citizens Building. This will be a come-and-go gathering for family and friends to share memories and honor his life.
