Harvey Junior Futhey, 68, passed away Sunday March 27, 2022, at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, OK. He was born on June 8, 1953, in Nowata, Ok. to John Harvey and Dixie Lou (Ryan) Futhey. Harvey grew up in Nowata and graduated from Nowata High School. After high school, he worked in the oil fields.
On February 18, 1977, he married Doylene Toney, in Osage County. They made their home in Nowata, OK., where he got his Jouneyman License and went to work for Maggard Plumbing in Nowata. The couple had two children: Crystal Doylene Futhey and Harvery Junior Futhey II. Harvey left Maggard Plumbing and went to work for Courtesy Plumbing in Nowata. He worked for Courtesy Plumbing for several years before becoming an over the road driver for Arrow Trucking. After a year of driving over the road he decided he missed his family too much and went to work for Hawn’s Wrecker Service in Nowata. From there he went to work for JL Plumbing in Vinita. After leaving work in Vinita he went back to work for Courtesy Plumbing where he obtained his Contractor’s Plumbing License. In 1993, he purchased Courtesy Plumbing and it became J&D Plumbing. Due to his health he retired from plumbing in 2008.
Harvey spent the last three years as an active Board Member, the treasurer, all around handy-man, yard keeper, bus driver, and delivered the meals for the home bound seniors of the Nowata Senior Center. He volunteered his help with the Food Truck for the Senior Center. He is survived by his wife, Doylene Futhey of Nowata; daughter, Crystal Anderson and partner Howard Corle of Childers; son, Harvey Junior Futhey II and partner Tina Sherman of Nowata; sister, Twilla and her husband Curtis Partain of Westville, OK; sister, Brenda and her husband Jeff Woods of Wann, OK; three grandsons, Dre Kertson of Claremore, Benjamin Anderson of Oregon, and Rayden Futhey of Wyoming; one granddaughter Madeleine Corle of Childers; Aunt, Ellen and her husband John Lakey of Delaware, OK; Aunt Helen and her husband JR Manley of Delaware, OK.; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Harvey was preceded in death by both parents, and brother Jody Mac Futhey. His viewing will be Friday, April 1, 2022, from 9-5 pm at Benjamin’s Funeral Home in Nowata. Cremation will take place afterwards and a celebration of life will be at a later date. Flowers can be sent to Benjamin’s Funeral Home of Nowata starting Thursday, March 31, 2022.
