Rev. Gerald Huntington, 83, of Nowata, Oklahoma, passed away into the arms of his Lord and Savior on December 13, 2023, at the Ascension St John Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with his loving family by his side. He was born on December 1, 1940, in Portageville, Missouri, to Doris and L.D. Huntington.

Gerald grew up in Wardell, Missouri, and graduated from Wardell High School. After graduation, he moved to Jeffersonville, Indiana, to study for ministry. While there, he met the love of his life, Martha. They married on July 28, 1962. The couple was married for over 61 years.

They were married about a year and a half when Gerald got called to serve Uncle Sam. He served in the Army for over a year and a half before he got an honorable discharge to go pastor their first church.

Gerald worked as a pastor and evangelist for the Christ Gospel Church International for over 55 years. Gerald began pastoring when he was 23 and Martha was 21. He pastored at several locations around the United States including Fort Worth, Texas, Owensboro, Kentucky, Wichita Falls, Texas, Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He also worked for the Harmon Foundation in Nowata, Oklahoma for several years.

Throughout his life, Gerald had many interests including fishing, hunting, and being on the Nowata Volunteer Fire Department, which he was later named Chaplain. He was a family man and enjoyed attending his children’s, later grandchildren’s’ sporting events and extracurricular activities. Gerald had a huge heart and did not meet a stranger. He had a way of making people feel comfortable. In the Nowata community, Gerald was simply known as “Preacher” and he will be missed by not only his family, but by everyone that knew him.

Gerald is preceded in death by his mother: Doris Hopper; and his granddaughter: Ashley Huntington.

Those left to cherish the memory of Gerald include: his wife: Martha Huntington; his children: David Huntington and wife, Julie, Becky Stacy and husband, Mike, and Tammy Harrison and husband, Scott; his grandchildren: Justin Huntington and wife, Kendall, Kelsey Reed and husband, Kyle, Kolton Stacy and wife, Jessie, Hagen Harrison and wife, Sydney, Hunter Harrison and wife, Jessie; his great-grandchildren: Kallen Huntington, Kase Huntington, Aubrie Reed, Jackson Reed, Zoey Stacy, K.J. Stacy, Hayes Harrison, and Paisley Harrison, along with other family members and friends.

A funeral service for Gerald will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at the Living Word Family Church in Nowata with Rev. Don Townswend officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Benjamin Funeral Service Chapel. Gerald’s final love and care has been entrusted to the staff of Benjamin Funeral Service. Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemoriesnowata.com.
