Emmons Fay Harney Jr.

Emmons F. Harney Jr, 90, of Nowata, passed away on Mon., Mar 9, 2026. He was born on July 12, 1935, in Nowata to Emmons and Zola (Clifford) Harney. Emmons graduated from Nowata High School and entered the military in 1956. He served with the US Army in the 101st Airborne Division until his honorable discharge in 1959. After his military duty he worked for McClennan Drilling, REC, and the Verdigris Valley Electric COOP as an electrician/lineman for over 35 years until his retirement. He is survived by 2 sons, Brian Harney and Michael Harney; 1 grandson, Duncan Harney; and 2 great grandchildren, Valerie and Rowan; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, W.J. Harney, Bud Harney, Pat Harrison, Jeri Barnes, Tom Harney, Hank Harney, Doug Harney, and Judy Harney. Graveside services will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026, at 10:00 am in the McMains Cemetery, Nowata, with Pastor Van Longbons officiating.
