Ellen Roberta Carpenter, 83, a lifetime resident of Nowata, peacefully went to be with her Loving Savior, on Tuesday, Aug 5, 2025, in Nowata. She was surrounded by people that loved and cared for her. Prior to her passing, she was able to spend precious time with her children. Ellen was born on May 27, 1942, to Bert and Elsie P. (Hudson) Lowery of Nowata. Ellen was a proud member of the Delaware and Cherokee Tribes of Oklahoma. She was a loving, sweet, uplifting, happy, funny lady, always offering a smile. She enjoyed spending time with family, friends, neighbors, and fellow Christians. Above all, Ellen was an exceptional mother, always offering her unconditional love. She enjoyed the summer sunshine and especially a cold glass of iced tea brewed in the sun. Ellen would always give thanks to those that came into her life. She would tell them, “May God bless you, and I will see you soon”, as they went about their day.
She is survived by her daughters, Dr. Cheryl Hodges of Anchorage, AK; Rodna Fuller of Tulsa; her son, John Carpenter of Tahlequah; also, a granddaughter, Amelia Prince of Broken Arrow; two great grandchildren, Evalynn Rose Tucker and Ivy Regean Tucker. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Patricia Shatto, a brother, Jaylee Lowery, and a grandson, Devin Sanders; and a special friend, J.R. Smith
Graveside services will be held on Friday, August 8, 2025, at 10:00 am in the Memorial Park Cemetery, Nowata, with interment immediately following. Pastor Wedell Abbott will officiate services.
