Elizabeth “Louise” Vail Miller, 87, of Nowata, Oklahoma, passed away on June 18, 2025. Born on December 14, 1937, in Vinita, Oklahoma, Louise was the daughter of Donald Loyd and Mary Elizabeth (Friend) Vail. She grew up on Big Creek in Craig County.
Louise attended Wimer School and graduated from Centralia High School in 1955. She played Guard on the Centralia girls’ basketball team, which won the Miami, Oklahoma Basketball Tournament three years in a row: 1953, 1954, and 1955.
On January 15, 1955, Louise married Billy Carl Miller in Miami, Oklahoma. Together they raised four children: Janet Rae, Mickey Charles, James Bradford, and Patricia Louise.
In 1964, she was baptized at Highland Park Baptist Church in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and later became a member of Nowata First Baptist Church.
Throughout her working years, Louise held various positions at Marcus Manufacturing and IGA Grocery Store in Nowata. She later worked for and retired from F&M Bank in Tulsa, and also retired from Cinch Manufacturing in Vinita.
Proud of her heritage, Louise was an active member of several lineage societies, including the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (Abraham Coryell Chapter in Vinita), the DAR Cameo Society, First Families of Twin Territories, and the National Society Descendants of American Farmers.
Louise was preceded in death by her husband; parents; her brother, Albert Vail; her son, Mickey Charles Miller; her twin grandsons; and one great-granddaughter.
She is survived by her children: Janet (Roger) Cantrell, Brad (Connie) Miller, and Patti Ingram; nine grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren, all of whom were the joy and pride of her life.
