Debra “Debbie” Lea Brown, 53, passed away on September 10, 2022, at her residence in Nowata, Oklahoma.
Debbie was born on October 12, 1968, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Ronald Glenn and Cynthia Lea (Kellams) Tracy.
Debbie was born into the world of education. She spent her entire adult life educating, tutoring, and above all helping anyone in need! She truly met her calling. Debbie graduated from Metro Christian Academy in 1986. She then attended Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK, where she received both her BS in Education and then her master’s degree. Debbie taught special education classes for 25 years. During her career, she taught student pre-k through high school. She genuinely loved and cared for her students. She was always coming up with new and inventive ways of educating her students and encouraging them to learn.
Debbie had several hobbies. Her newest hobby was making quilts. The many quilts she made, she gave to friends and family. Debbie loved to knit. She was terrific at picking colors of yarn to go together. She created many shawls, sweaters, and socks.
Debbie was very creative when it came to creating educational games. Even after, she quit teaching she made games for her teacher friends.
Debbie was a very caring, nurturing individual. She loved helping and taking care of people.
Her-our children are four legged and hairy. She adored her puppies. She signed cards and letters with the puppies’ names and a paw print. Some we miss together; the others will certainly miss her!
She is or was just a wonderful human.
She will be missed by ALL!
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents; Glenn and Geneva Tracy, her maternal grandparents; Earl and Betty Kellams, her uncles; Everett Dunlap and David Kellams, and her aunt; Nancy Dunlap.
Debbie is survived by her husband; Robert “Bob” Brown of Nowata, OK, her mother; Cindy Tracy of Nowata, OK, two brothers; Daniel Tracy of Tulsa, OK and David Tracy of St. Thomas, USVI, along with many friends.
A memorial service for Debbie will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at the Benjamin Funeral Service Chapel. Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemories.com.
