Clarence Roy Capps, 94, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, left his earthly body and passed into eternal rest on the evening of May 9, 2024, in Owasso, Oklahoma. He was born on March 29, 1930, in Delaware, Oklahoma, to Fred Capps and Queena May (Paige) Capps.
Clarence grew up in Nowata and graduated from Nowata High School with the class of 1948. After graduation, he attended NEO A&M University. Additionally, Clarence served in the 45th division of the Army National Guard, which was based out of Nowata, OK. His unit was activated to serve during the Korean Conflict.
Clarence married the love of his life, Jane Bennett, on December 24, 1950, in Nowata, Oklahoma. Clarence and Jane shared a love that could be envied by anyone they encountered. The couple had two daughters together: Cindy and Cathy. Clarence retired in 1999 from Merkle X-Ray Company. After retirement, Clarence and Jane spent summers at Grand Lake gardening and traveling amongst the United States. The couple shared 72 years of wonderful marriage together, before Jane’s passing.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents: Fred and Queena Capps and his wife: Jane Capps in 2022.
Those left to cherish the memory of Clarence include his daughters: Cindy Layfield and Cathy Wells, his 4 grandchildren, and his 3 great-grandchildren, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral service for Clarence will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at the Benjamin Funeral Service Chapel at 2:00 P.M. Interment will follow at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Nowata, OK.
