Charles Arthur Bowman, 82, died August 14, 2025, from ALS, commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease. Born October 25, 1942, in Vinita, Oklahoma, to Arthur “Dee” and Evelyn (Crocker) Bowman. Charles grew up in Nowata, graduating from Nowata High School in 1960. He earned his bachelor's degree in chemistry and master’s degree in counseling from Northeastern State College, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, and was a member of Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity. He was a retired educator, coach, and independent oil producer. His kindness, gentle strength, and clever wit will be missed by all who knew him. Charles is survived by wife, Sondra (Walker) Bowman; daughter Kathryn “Nikki” (Blake) Ellsworth; daughter Kari (Marcus) Lyle; cousin Nancy (Glenn) Sweet & grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his paternal grandparents, Cooper and Chloe (Jordan) Bowman; his maternal grandparents, Charles and Myrtle (Littrell) Crocker; & son Kevin Dean Bowman. Celebration of life is at 11 a.m. Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Benjamin Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, Nowata, Oklahoma, Dr. Rick Frie officiating.
