Billy Joe Lindersmith, Sr., age 84, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2022, at his home.
Bill was born June 21, 1937, at Lenapah, Oklahoma to Earl Lindersmith and Audie (Stubllefield) Lindersmith. He grew up in Lenapah and Alluwe and graduated from Alluwe High School, where he excelled in basketball, earning All-State honors. Billy was also selected to Boys State and was valedictorian of his senior class. He was a member of the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sargeant.
Bill married Sarah Sue Maggard on October11, 1958 at Miami, Oklahoma. Sarah preceded her husband in death on August 12, 2020. Billy was an electrician and a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 225 of Topeka, Kansas. He was of the Methodist faith and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Survivors include three children, Billy J. Lindersmith, Jr. of Nowata, Jimmie D. Lindersmith and his wife, Lynn of Blue Springs, Missouri, and Julie Lindersmith-Evans of Nowata; two sisters, Sondra Kaye Holland of Collinsville, Oklahoma and Jean Seely of Grove, Oklahoma; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded by his parents; by his wife, Sarah; by three brothers, Eugene “Jack”, Ralph, and Floyd “Podge” Lindersmith, and by three sisters, Doris Jones, Dorothy Hundley and Ruth “Pat” Brotherton.
Graveside services will be 2pm, Monday, March 28, 2022, at Lenapah’s Mt. Washington Cemetery. Service and interment are under the direction of Benjamin Funeral Service.
