Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, Oklahoma, 918-786-2261Our beloved Mother, Betty L. Leith of Grove, Oklahoma, passed away at Grandwood Assisted Living on April 22, 2019.
Betty was born in Arkansas City, Kansas to Edward and Helen (Hankins) Speer in 1929 and grew up around Ark City and Dexter. She graduated from Dexter High School and married the love of her life, Richard (Dick) Leith in 1946. Betty was a homemaker all her life, and she jumped right into helping with all the farm work. They enjoyed getting together with friends and family. She was always busy with kids and their 4-H projects, and feeding the farm crew. Betty lost her husband Dick after 33 years of marriage. Betty loved and enjoyed being with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dick Leith, their first daughter, Peggy Jean, her parents, one brother Richard Speer and great grandchild, Garrett Schmitz.
Survivors includes her daughter Helen Hale and Mark of Grove, OK, son John Leith and Rhenda of Grove, OK, one brother Robert Speer and Sharon of Coffeyville, KS; one sister in-law Coylene Speer of Elk City, KS. Six grandchildren; Danny Defore and Melesa of Dexter, KS, Darla Mertuka and Mark of Lewisville, TX, Dina Updike and Todd of Broken Arrow, OK, Heather Fleske and Andrew of McKinney, TX, Tasha Schmitz and Kurt of Murfreesboro, TN, John Leith of Grove, OK, and one step granddaughter Lori Moore and Jimmy of Navarre, FL. Betty was blessed with 20 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm, Thursday, April 25, 2019 at the Dexter Cemetery in Dexter, KS. A lunch will precede the service at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, Oklahoma.
